CROSSWALK
HISTORIC
In staying true to her innovative practice, Tariqa Waters crosswalk design reimagines the traditional white lines and replaces them with afro picks. The intent of this design is to bring vibrancy, color and joy to these unprecedented times. as a multifaceted celebrated arts leader in seattle with over a decade of service in historic pioneer Square, the "martyr Sauce crosswalk" stands as a tangible sense of inclusion and representation. History in the making, Waters is the first artist to have an installation of this kind in seattle's first neighborhood- Historic Pioneer Square.
